According to the data issued by metal trading enterprise Ukrainian Mining and Metallurgical Company, in January to November this year Ukraine consumed about 5.351 million tons of rolled steel products, down 32.5% YoY.

During the period in question, the share of imports in the domestic rolled steel product market decreased to 11.5% from 20.1% in the same period last year amounting to 649,200 tons. On the other hand in November this year rolled steel product deliveries to the Ukrainian domestic market amounted to 576,400 tons up by 67% YoY, but down by 5.1% MoM.

Just as in the corresponding period of the previous year, in January to November this year the biggest share in Ukrainian domestic rolled steel product consumption was held by hot-rolled coil with just under a third of the total volume of deliveries at 32.67% followed by rebar and wire rod with 8.96% and 8.18% respectively.
In January to November 2009 , Ukraine’s main consumer of rolled steel remained the pipe sector which increased its share of overall consumption in the domestic steel market from 25.3% to 26% while the local metal trade sector which occupied first place in the first eleven months of 2008, saw its share decrease from 33.8% to 25%.
