On January 13, Kholodnaya Balka miners went on a strike demanding salary debts clearing.
According to Larisa Tolstykina, separatists-appointed head of the town administration, there wasn’t enough money to pay salary, as Makeevka mines were not receiving subsidies from Ukrainian budget anymore.
Militants who viewed the strike as a diversion, promised to punish the organizers. (Ukrainian metal)
