A new mining and processing works will be constructed in Kyzylorda region.
The corresponding documents have been signed during the investment forum in London.
The guarantee agreement was signed by Samruk Kazyna fund chairman Akhmetzhan Yesimov and sir Suma Chakrabarti of EBRD, while the construction agreement – by Tau-Ken Samruk national company chairman Kanat Kudaibergen and director of Engineering Dobersek Albin Dobersek.
The plant will produce lead and zinc concentrates.
The design capacity of the works will be 4 million tons of ore per year. It will create 1500 jobs.
The commissioning of the first stage is scheduled for Q4 2020.
Investments in the project amount to $295 million.
Lead reserves of the Shalkiy deposits are estimated at 1.49 million tons and zinc – 4.83 million tons. (Ukrainian metal)
