Ukraine: Zaporizhstal leads ranking of largest employers in Zaporizhzhia region

The Zaporizhstal plant of the Metinvest Group took the first place in the ranking of the largest employers in the Zaporizhzhia region, according to the Opendatabot analytical platform.

The rating was formed based on an analysis of the financial statements of Ukrainian enterprises for 2025. Zaporizhstal, which was also included in the Opendatabot Index, became the leader of the Zaporizhzhia region in terms of the number of employees, which exceeds 8,000 employees.

The plant operates in conditions of full-scale war, ensuring the employment of thousands of workers and specialists in related industries, timely payment of wages and social guarantees. Zaporizhstal remains one of the key drivers of the region’s economy, a major exporter, contributes to filling budgets and supports the social stability of communities. In 2025, the plant paid almost 2.7 billion hryvnia in taxes to budgets of all levels.

“The status of the largest employer in the region is primarily not about numbers, but about the responsibility of an enterprise that has been writing the history of Ukrainian metallurgy for over 90 years. In a front-line city, Zaporizhstal maintains jobs in the MMC and in related industries, supports the stability of the region and nourishes the national economy, makes an important contribution to preserving the country’s export potential, which is important for the further reconstruction of Ukraine,” said Acting General Director of Zaporizhstal, Hero of Ukraine Taras Shevchenko.

Zaporizhstal systematically develops training and retraining programs, creates opportunities for professional growth and development of young specialists, in particular, motivational programs for young people “Steel Future” and “First Job”, as well as programs for employment and reintegration of war veterans.

Zaporizhstal also took the second place in the Opendatabot service rating “The Best Enterprises of Ukraine – 2026” in the “Processing Industry” category. The index is formed on the basis of a comprehensive analysis: data from state registers and OpenDatabot databases, company financial statements, information on ties with the Russian Federation, sanctions lists and other analytical tools. The assessment takes into account both financial results for 2025 and the business reputation of the business. (Zaporizhstal)
