The Ministry of Economy has presented for public discussion the draft of the Cabinet of Ministers’ resolution, which suggests licensing and quotation of exports of ferrous metals scrap setting the zero quota for 2025.
If the resolution is adopted, the export of ferrous scrap will be prohibited, as licenses will be issued only within the quota set, which will be zero.
Ukraine has already used such an approach, in particular during peak needs of raw materials for the domestic metal market.
The new initiative of the government is linked to the desire to provide for stable provision of the raw materials for the local market, including for enterprises that increase output during war. (Ukrainian metal)
