This year, Ukraine intends to increase steel output by 1 million tons, to 7.2 million tons.
“If the situation doesn’t get worse (for which we all hope), this year steel output of not less than 7.2 million tons of steel can be expected. We finished 2023 with 6.2 million tons. Thus, an increase can amount to around 16%,” Ukrmetallurgprom president Olexander Kalenkov has said.
He noted that despite numerous challenges with logistics and personnel, as well as electricity shortage, Ukrainian metal companies were gradually increasing output. Thus, now steel capacities are loaded at 25% to 73% depending on a company. Average loading is 49%. Last year, average capacity loading stood at 37%. (Ukrainian metal)
