In honour of Ukraine’s Metallurgical and Mining Industry Workers’ Day, Zaporizhstal metallurgists received honorary awards and prizes. Due to the challenging security situation in the region, the awards were given out at workplaces without any formal ceremonies.
Yuriy Ryzhenkov, CEO of Metinvest Group, personally awarded the company’s highest honour, the Gold Star of Metinvest, to Sergiy Sydorenko, Senior Gas Foreman of the Blast Furnace Shop, and Vladislav Osochenko, Excavator Operator of the Slag Processing Shop.
“Hundreds of thousands of employees of the mining and metallurgical sector are a powerful force that contributes to Ukraine’s victory over the enemy. They bring peacetime closer by making steel products for the army and strengthening the country’s defence capability. They volunteer and help our defenders on the front. We will never forget those who gave their lives defending the country in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We will always remember our colleagues who died as a result of the aggressor’s terrorist attacks. The steel heart of Ukraine beats, no matter how hard it is. And it continues to fight thanks to our cohesion and unity,” said Yuriy Ryzhenkov.
Metinvest’s Certificates of Merit were awarded to the teams from the sinter, blast furnace, oxygen compressor, train preparation and water supply departments for their significant contributions to improving production efficiency at the plant and achieving the best production and financial results. All awarded employees and teams received cash prizes.
The awards were presented to Zaporizhstal employees by Roman Slobodianyuk, the General Director of the works.
“Right now, the work of metallurgists is more crucial than ever. We are working to support the national economy, help save Ukraine and be a strong backbone for our defenders. We are not celebrating our professional holiday today, but I am confident we will celebrate it in a peaceful and victorious Ukraine in the future. I see Metallurgist’s and Miner’s Day as an opportunity to thank the entire Zaporizhstal team once again for their hard but essential work for our city and country. For their endurance, dedication, and courage during the toughest times, providing support and protection,” he said.
On Metallurgist and Miner Day, eighty-four employees of Zaporizhstal received awards from Metinvest Group, the company and the trade union organization. (Zaporizhstal)
