Confirmed volumes of military machinery that can be considered scrap metal are estimated at 1-1.2 million tons.
Considerable amounts of such machines are located in Kherson, Donetsk, Luhansk, Sumy, Chernihiv and Mykolaiv regions. Such amounts are enough to organize a separate processing enterprise or significantly modernize available foundries.
Up to 30% of tanks could be turned into scrap (weight-wise), up to 40% of armored vehicles, up to 15% of various transport vehicles and up to 15% of special machines. Aviation machines, ammunition and weapons have not been taken into account.
Average market prices for ferrous metal scrap in Ukraine as of late August amounted to 6200-6500 UAH per ton or EUR 155-160 per ton, while export prices – EUR 280-300 per ton.
At the same, according to UAVtormet Association, “military” scrap of alloyed steel is not in demand in Ukraine. (Ukrainian metal)
