Zaporizhstal is sure that its steel meets the requirements to produce the Tryzub (trident) for the Motherland sculpture.
“We do not agree with the conclusions made by the Ministry of Culture and Informational Policy and their defects act. We see the claims as biased and groundless and will defend the honor of the Ukrainian manufacturer and Ukrainian steel. Understanding all the importance of the project, we will continue fulfilling all our obligations as a partner to produce the new trident. At the ministry’s request Zaporizhstal provided all the steel to produce the coat of arms free of charge and paid for the development of the project to replace the Soviet symbol,” the company said.
The first batch of steel was provided on June 29.
“Any insignificant deviations of the rolled metal thickness are within norms and within allowed errors, of which the contractor has been informed in advance. When accepting the metal, the contractor had no claims. The company learned of the inconsistencies of its steel and the impossibility of using its metal in the reconstruction project from the Ministry of Culture’s announcement dated July 25,” Zaporizhstal added.
