Russia: metal output up in January 2020

In January industrial production in Russia grew by 1.1% YoY, but dropped by 17.3% MoM.

According to Rosstat, mining decreased by 0.4% YoY. In particular, coal extraction – by 8.8%, while that of metal ores grew by 2.4%.

Metal industry demonstrated a growth of 2.3%, with steel wares up by 19.3% and castings by 35.1%.

Pig iron output grew by 3.1%, and gold – by 8.1%.

Unalloyed steel manufacture totaled 4.8 million tons, down by 2.6% MoM and by 5.5% YoY.

Russia produced 5.3 million tons of rolled metal, up by 1.1% MoM and by 2.1% YoY.

Steel pipes, hollow sections and fittings manufacture dropped by 10.7% MoM, but increased by 0.8% YoY, to 0.9 million tons. (Ukrainian metal)
