Soon metal slag and ash of Dneprovsky Iron and Steel Combine will be used in construction of roads in Dniepropetrovsk, Zaporozhye, Donetsk, Lugansk, Nikolayev and Kirovograd regions.
As a result of DMK operation, some 8 million tons of metal slag have been accumulated.
They are placed at slag dumps, the size of which is 99.5 ha.
Slag is a good substitute of natural crushed stone.
DNK uses some 60% of blast furnace and steel smelting slag in its own manufacture annually. And the rest can be used in road construction. (Ukrainian metal)
