In August Russia produced 6.17 million tons of steel (as in July), down by 0.1% YoY. In 8 months steel output reached 48.264 million tons, up by 1.9% YoY.

Ukraine, which has already left CIS, decreased steel production in August by 3.7% YoY, to 1.786 million tons (1.815 million tons in July). At the same time in January-August output grew by 2%, to 13.992 million tons.

In August steel manufacture in Kazakhstan was 390 thousand tons, on par with July, but down by 0.3% YoY, with 3.071 million tons produced in 8 months, up by 0.4%.

Belarus manufactured 225 thousand tons of steel, as in July, up by 46.1% YoY. In January-August 1.596 million tons of steel were produced, up by 8.3% YoY.

60 thousand tons were produced in Uzbekistan in August, as in July, down by 6.3% YoY, as well as 458 thousand tons in 8 months, up by 4.6% YoY.

Moldova produced 60 thousand tons of steel in August, as in July, up by 22.4% YoY. In January-August 427 thousand tons of steel were produced, up by 76.4% YoY.

All in all in August CIS countries produced 8.691 million tons of steel, almost on par YoY, but down from 8.72 million tons in July. In 8 months steel output went up by 2.3% YoY, to 67.808 million tons. (Ukrainian metal)
