Metinvest has shut down the blast furnace No. 4 of the Azovstal Iron and Steel Works to carry out an ecological modernization.
After the modernization the company will completely stop using seawater to cool the blast furnace.
Moreover, in 2014-2016 the blast furnace underwent a reconstruction valued at 2 billion UAH.
“Now we will replace lining, construct a new cooling system and a complex of chemical purification of water. Investments in the modernization will reach 0.5 billion UAH”, the company said. (Ukrainian metal)
