Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) plans to invest 38 billion rubles until 2025 into environment protection, an MMK representative reported.
The Chelyabinsk region’s department of the Federal Service for Natural Resources Oversight sent a report to the federal department stating that MMK inflicted 3.2 billion rubles of financial damage on water bodies of the city of Magnitogorsk.
The company’s representative said that MMK planned to finish a 660-million ruble reconstruction of the company’s recycling water supply unit that should reduce the waste the company dumps into water bodies of Magnitogorsk, and planned to invest 5.5 billion rubles more into water facilities until 2025.
“Combined spending of the company on reduction and prevention of man-caused impact on the environment will reach 38 billion rubles until 2025,” the person said. (Prime/Ukrainian metal)
