Ukraine: unions want new Selidovugol CEO fired

Because of the critical situation at the state coal enterprises, the Independent Miners Union has prepared an address to the president, prime minister and the Verkhovnaya Rada chairman.

According to the union chairman Mikhail Volynets, the main problems in the industry are the wage debt growth totaling over 1.1 million UAH, the decrease of coal output and the increase of imports, as well as the lack of coal industry development plan and the appointment of incompetent people to the key managing jobs.

The union demands the complete clearing of salary debts to miners, the return of the Kotlyarevskaya and Novogrodovskaya 1/3 mines coal beds (Selidovugol) from private to state ownership, the abolishment of the system of “watchers” and the adoption of the coal industry development program for 10 years.

The union also wants the state enterprise Selidovugol to have a new CEO, with “imputable reputation, no criminal record and corruption relations”.

Some 2 weeks ago Aleksei Klimchenko was appointed the new Selidovugol CEO. (Ukrainian metal)
