Murmansk region will support the Norilsk Nickel investment project to reconfigure the manufacture at the Kola Iron and Steel Company valued at 25.7 billion rubles.

According to the contract, signed by the parties, the project will cover 5 years (2018-2023) and all the Nornickel manufacturing sites in Murmansk region: Zapolyarniy, Nickel and Monchegorsk. As the result, Kola assets will grow 2-fold, pollution will considerably decrease, while the economic efficiency will increase due to the drop in operational expenses (by 17%) and the decrease of metal losses.

In particular, the project provides for the construction of the copper-nickel concentrate shipping unit at the processing factory in the town of Zapolyarniy, as well as modernization of the nickel refining. (Ukrainian metal)
