Russia is ready for negotiations with the U.S. to cancel 25% steel and 10% aluminum imports duties, Deputy Industry and Trade Minister Viktor Yevtukhov declared on March 26.
Yevtukhov also said that Russia was considering contesting the measure in the World Trade Organization (WTO) and retaliating.
“The third process is a process of negotiations to lift the duty taking into account the existence in the U.S. of facilities that belong to our companies among others,” the official said. “These plants manufacture a large number of products and indeed, when these restrictions were introduced, it was strange that the presidential administration did not think that it would result in higher prices for the goods in the U.S. for their end consumers.” (Prime/Ukrainian metal)
