Russia: steel exports to Belarus up in 2017

In 2017 Russia exported 1.45 million tons of steel to Belarus, up by 22.6% YoY.

According to the customs statistics, revenue grew by 47.7%. These are the highest results since 2014.

Flat rolled metal accounts for 46.6% of the exports, up by 19.6% (revenue grew by 45.6%). Bars and sections share totaled 34% (up by 29.3% and 58.7% respectively), and steel pipes – 16% (up by 11.2%).

Until 2012 Belarus was the main consumer of Russian steel among ex-CIS countries, but then stepped down to the second place after Kazakhstan. Still, among the near foreign countries Belarus is the main importer of Russian ferrous scrap. (Ukrainian metal)
