In 2018 Ukraine is expected to increase steel output by 8% YoY, to 22.5-23.3 million tons.
“This is our careful forecast. The growth will be 7.6-9.4%. These are quite achievable results, if we avoid such shocks as in 2017”, Ukrmetallurgprom president Alexander Kalenkov said.
According to him, in 2017 Ukraine produced 21.3 million tons of steel, down by 12% YoY.
“This is the lowest result for the past years. We produced less only in 1994-1995 – 22 million tons. That was the worst period of Ukrainian independence, but in 2017 we fell even lower”, he added. (Ukrainian metal)
