The Novovolynskaya mine No. 9, a part of the state enterprise Volynugol, has suspended operation because of the lack of equipment.
“The enterprise has stopped mining coal. And the reason is simple – they have nothing to work with. The mine was developing three long faces. For the past week they were barely working on one. Now the mining there stopped as well – they have no cogs for combines”, Mikhail Volynets, the chairman of the Independent Miners Union of Ukraine, wrote on his Facebook page.
In January-November 2017 the mine yielded 48.325 thousand tons of coal, or 50.57% of the total Volynugol output, 1.09% of all Ministry of energy and coal industry mines and just 0.15% of the total Ukrainian coal output.
In January-September Volynugol increased net losses by 7.9% YoY, to 94.788 million UAH, net income by 1.2%, to 98.558 million UAH, and gross losses by 5.6%, to 82.774 million UAH. (Ukrainian metal)
