In June railroad transported 5.4 million tons of ferrous metals, down by 5.3% YoY, and 35.2 million tons in 6 months, down by 1%.
Inner transportation in June increased by 7% YoY, while exports dropped by 13% (to Italy – 2-fold, to Mexico and Belgium by 40%). At the same time deliveries to Kazakhstan and Belarus increased 1.5-fold, and Russia started exporting to Finland.
The decrease of exports has to do with the strengthening of the competitiveness on the world market, and as a result the introduction of additional limitations by countries-importers to protect local manufacturers.
In July EC decided to impose the minimal price level for hot-rolled steel imported from Russia at 472.27 euro per ton.
Russian companies, affected by the established price levels are Severstal, MMK and NLMK. MMK might receive the highest duty of 33%, NLMK – 15% and Severstal – 5.3%.
The final decision will be taken in early October. (Ukrainian metal)
