In late June Donetskstal stopped all labor relations with the employees of its “Metallurgical complex” subsidiary in Donetsk because of its shut down.

Earlier the decision to fire personnel has been taken by Donetsk Iron and Steel Works, also a part of Donetskstal.

These decisions have been motivated by the “actions of unidentified persons”, resulting in the loss of control of Donetskstal over its assets in Donetsk from March 17. This was the so-called nationalization of the works by the order of the “Donetsk People’s Republic chairman” Alexander Zakharchenko.

At the same time many things show that the control has remained in the same hands. For example, the Metallurgical complex chairman Igor Minkovsky became the director of the “nationalized” Donetsk Iron and Steel Works. (Ukrainian metal)
