Ukraine: metal output in Donetsk region in Q1 2017

In January-March the volume of industrial output in Donetsk region (not counting the antiterrorist operation zone) decreased by 9.1% YoY, in March the drop was 8.2% MoM and 21.8% YoY.

March saw the decrease in metal output by 1% MoM and by 12.4% YoY, and coke – by 8% and by 42.4% respectively.

Coal mining decreased by 34.5% MoM in March, to 0.9 million tons, with 3 million tons mined in January-March, down by 21.6%.

Decrease in coalmining affected coke and metal manufacture: down by 42.4% YoY of coke, 22.6% of pig iron and 16.1% of steel, with rolled metal up by 12.3%.

In Q1 the region produced 2.1 million tons of pig iron, 2.1 million tons of steel and 1.2 million tons of rolled metal, down by 6.9%, up by 4.4% and by 12.8% YoY respectively. (Ukrainian metal)
