If Ukrzaliznytsia sells 300 thousand tons of accumulated scrap, it will get some 1.1 billion UAH.
According to Ukrmetallurgprom letter to Ukrzaliznytsia, in mid-2015 Ukrainian Railways stopped selling such scrap due to unknown reasons.
“As of September 2015 Ukrzaliznytsia should have stocked 83 thousand tons of scrap. We believe that in 2012-2015 it was also able to procure some 220 thousand tons. Thus now the company should have around 300 thousand tons of scrap”, the Ukrmetallurgprom president Alexander Kalenkov noted.
According to him, such scrap supplies from Ukrzaliznytsia to metal companies that have been suffering from scrap shortage for the last 18 months will improve their condition and allow to increase output and exports.
Of these 300 thousand tons of scrap Ukrmetallurgprom believes 270 thousand tons of metal could be produced and exported, thus increasing revenues by $100 million. (Ukrainian metal)
