Russia: Rusal to increase domestic aluminum sales in 2017

Russian aluminum giant UC Rusal plans to raise domestic sales of aluminum by 7-8% YoY to more than 850,000 tons in 2017, Roman Andryushin, the company’s director for sales in Russia and CIS, reported.

“I am sure that we will exceed (the sales) of 800,000 tons (this year). Last year, we sold 754,000 tons, so the growth amounted to about 50,000 tons, or 8%. Next year, we forecast the same significant growth of 7-8%. We have to exceed the threshold of 850,000 tons of sales”, he said.

Rusal is implementing more than 80 projects aimed at increasing demand for aluminum together with the Industry and Trade Ministry, Russia’s Aluminum Association and other interested parties. Next year, the amount of projects will exceed 100, he said.

Russia’s internal demand for aluminum may rise to 2 million tons in the next five to seven years, while Rusal expects its sales in Russia and the CIS to exceed 1 million tons by 2019. (Prime/Ukrainian metal)
