In late March Pakistan imposed additional duties on rolled metal from Ukraine. Ukrainian metal makers could lose $2-5 million.
Aisha Steel Mills initiated the duty. It’s the largest steel company of Pakistan, and it has been trying to protect its sales from mostly Chinese products. But it was Ukraine that suffered the most. Last year Chinese rolled metal supplies to Pakistan went up, while Ukrainian decreased. If in 2014 cold-rolled metal exports from Ukraine to Pakistan totaled 18 thousand tons, in 2015 they fell 3 times, with Zaporizhstal being the only exporter. (Ukrainian metal)
