Ukrkoks believes in 2016 bulk 6% moisture coke production will increase by 10%, or by 1.2 milion tons, to 12.76 million tons.
“Coke output will grow by some 10%. That’s because of the world metal demand. And we don’t produce more coke, than metal makers consume”, said the association general director Anatoly Starovoit.
At the same time he expects coke imports to decrease slightly, since AMKR plans to put a new coke battery into operation, thus decreasing imports from Poland.
In 2015 Ukraine produced 11606 thousand tons of bulk 6% moisture coke, down by 16% YoY, or by 2215 thousand tons. Coke imports last year reached $395.95 million, with exports on the level of $38.21 million. (Ukrainian metal)
