In January to August Ukraine increased its electric power consumption, including technical losses in networks, by 10.2% YoY to 119.8 billion kWh. Meanwhile, excluding technical losses, the country’s power consumption went up by 11% YoY to 96.8 billion kWh.
In the first eight months of this year, Ukraine’s industry increased its power consumption by 14.9% YoY excluding technical losses, to about 46.9 billion kWh. Of this, the country’s steel industry consumed power in the amount of 25.5 billion kWh – up by 20.6%, the chemical and petrochemical industry consumed 3.37 billion kWh, up by 15%, and the machine-building industry consumed 3.8 billion KWh, up by 21.1% all compared to January to August 2009.
