According to the information issued by the Ukrainian Ministry of Economy, up to July 1st Ukraine utilized 37.37% of its annual quota for rebar exports to Russia and 97.53% of its yearly quota for cold-rolled steel exports to the same destination, supplying a total of 149,491 tons and 204,810 tons respectively.
According to the agreement between Russia and Ukraine, the 2010 annual quota for Ukraine regarding rebar exports to Russia is 400,000 tons up from 363,000 tons in 2009. The quota is for the 12 months from January 1st to December 31st 2010.
Meanwhile, also according to the agreement signed between the countries, Ukraine’s yearly quota for cold-rolled exports to Russia stands at 210,000 tons for the 12 months from July 1st 2009 to June 30th 2010. It should be noted that June 30th 2010 saw the expiration of the three-year quota agreement which limits Ukrainian supplies of cold-rolled steel to Russia.
In June this year Ukraine exported 31,238 tons of rebar and 65 tons of cold-rolled steel products to Russia. (SteelGuru)
