As part of the announced Year of Safety and systematic efforts to strengthen industrial safety and occupational health, Kazakhmys has completed pilot testing of a protective capsule cabin for loading and handling conveyor operators at the Nurkazgan mine.
The project was implemented at the northern portal industrial site and is part of a comprehensive effort to reduce industrial risks and improve employee safety.
The capsule cabin is an isolated protective structure measuring 2300 x 1800 x 1500 mm, providing reliable protection for the workplace from external factors. The solution minimizes exposure to dust and noise and eliminates the risk of injury from falling rock masses.
Particular attention has been paid to the comfort and health of workers: thanks to the sealed design, the operator can remain inside without a respirator mask, maintaining a safe respiratory environment. This reduces stress on the body and improves working conditions throughout the entire shift.
Testing confirmed a significant reduction in potential injury risks, as well as improved sanitary and hygienic conditions in the workplace. The solution has proven its effectiveness in real-world production conditions.
In the near future, the project is planned to be gradually expanded to other areas where the use of similar solutions is technologically feasible.
Developing industrial safety and occupational health systems is not only about implementing technology but, above all, caring for people. Creating a safe and comfortable work environment remains one of Kazakhmys’ key priorities, especially within the Year of Safety. (MetalPortal)
