Kazakhstan: Chinese companies to invest $2.37 billion in alumina production

Chinese investors plan to build two alumina plants in Kazakhstan’s Kostanay region.

The first plant is expected to have a capacity of up to 1 million tons per year.

The project cost is 263.9 billion tenge ($0.554 billion).

Production is scheduled to begin in 2028.

The second plant is expected to have a capacity of up to 2 million tons per year.

The project cost is 864 billion tenge ($1.813 billion).

The expected commissioning date is 2029.

Regional authorities have not disclosed the investors or the locations of the planned plants. (Logistan)
