New surveying equipment has been introduced at the East Zhezkazgan mine, the Zapadny mine, and the surveying department. Modern Leica TS07 R1000 5″ total stations have arrived at the sites. They combine high accuracy, reliability, and ease of use in operating mining environments.
The new instruments are capable of performing reflectorless measurements at distances of up to 1,000 meters, provide angular accuracy of up to 5 seconds, and are fully protected from dust and moisture (IP66 rating). Integration with Leica Captivate software enables all key surveying tasks to be performed on-site – from setting out project coordinates and resections to calculating areas, volumes, and data visualization.
“For us, this isn’t just an equipment upgrade,” says Asel Kosumova, Chief Mine Surveyor at Kazakhmys Corporation. “These instruments allow us to obtain highly accurate data and process the results more quickly. This means that all sites have a more reliable basis for planning and control.”
Previously, older models of total stations with limited functionality were used. The new equipment helps reduce measurement time, improve survey accuracy, and reduce the impact of human error.
These changes enhance the reliability of geodetic data, which is essential for planning exploration, construction, and mining processes. As a result, the efficiency of the entire production chain – from geological exploration to mine operation – is increased. (MetalPortal)
