In August, AzerGold CJSC began large-scale geological surveys at the Zod gold deposit, located in the East Zangezur economic region, in the Kalbajar district, AzerGold’s Head of Public Relations and Marketing, Ariz Tarverdiyev, told reporters.
According to him, while geological exploration had previously been slow due to the phased clearance of mines and unexploded ordnance, geological assessment of the portion of the deposit located in Azerbaijan is now proceeding at a rapid pace: “Topographic planning of the deposit area has already been completed using modern methods. In addition, ground geochemical sampling of the deposit’s ores has been conducted. Additionally, drilling is planned to estimate reserves, and drilling operations are currently ongoing.”
He added that subsequent stages included engineering-geological, metallurgical-technological, and hydrogeological studies, an estimate of remaining reserves, and a feasibility study. (Report)
