Olga Ponkratova, the Buyuk Kelajak expert, who has graduated from Russia’s Higher School of Economics and Harvard Business School, has been appointed deputy director of the Navoi Mining and Processing Works.
With vast experience in mining, Ponkratova worked at Evraz, Novolipetsk Steel, Uralkali, Alrosa, Basic Element, ERG/ENRC, Glencore, Kazphosphate, Teu-Ken Samruk and EY.
She also worked as managing partner at IFG Metals & Mining (Luxemburg), where she consulted Uzbekistan on its investment policy and drew up the Invest in Uzbekistan project.
Under the National Project Management Agency, she audited state mining assets, consulted on tax reform and trained the NPMA team in audit and risk management.
She joined forces with Uzbekistan’s State Committee to developed the tungsten cluster concept, spearheaded transition to the JORC and helped set up the Central Asian metals and mining council. (Uzreport)
