On June 3, the president of Uzbekistan signed a decree to cancel the exclusive rights previously provided to certain enterprises. This is a part of obligations to the World Trade Organization.
From next year Uzmetkombinat JSC will not have an exclusive right to purchase ferrous metals scrap and waste within the country, while Uzvtorzvetmet JSC will lose its right to procure and export non-ferrous metals scrap.
At the same time, from January 1, 2026 the limitations on the export of copper cathodes and copper wire rod, purchased via stock exchanges, will be canceled, which will open new possibilities for Uzbek exports. (Ukrainian metal)
