8 thousand Metinvest employees have been mobilized since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion.
Metal companies face labor shortage, which is covered by attracting women.
“Last year we didn’t lay off people, on the contrary – we made everything possible to retain manufacturing staff and improve efficiency. Yet the number of employees decreased by 4.8 thousand due to the staff flow and mobilization,” Metinvest director on stable development and personnel relations Tetyana Petruk has said.
Now the group offers around 4 thousand jobs. In order to overcome the labor shortage, the group plans to attract women and retrain employees.
“We have started hiring much more women where possible. These are jobs where women have worked previously and where the necessary infrastructure is available. For example, repair jobs – electricians or conveyor operators. Thus we are trying to free men for the jobs unsuitable for women. It is clear, that we will be unable to do without further feminization of male jobs. That’s our future,” she said. (Ukrainian metal)
