The Polish-Ukrainian agreement provides for 6 trains with steel and ore passing the Medyka point per day. At the same time, only 3-4 trains are allowed, as the Polish border and railroad administration favors other transports.

“That is why we are forced to wait at the border, which increases our expenses. We have to pay 1.9 CHF for each carriage per hour,” Metinvest Polska logistics department head Yukiya Mezentseva has said.

According to her, iron ore and coal are transshipped much faster than metal products.

“Transshipment in Polish ports is 4 times slower than in Black Sea terminals,” she said.

One of the reasons could be the lack of personnel. (Ukrainian metal)
