During the visit, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was informed about the current production state and development prospects of the Ust-Kamenogorsk titanium-magnesium plant.
The plant is among the world’s major vertically integrated manufacturers of titanium sponge, ingots and alloys with a full production cycle from raw material extraction to end-product output. The plant’s production structure includes five main and six auxiliary workshops as well as subsidiary and joint ventures. The share of Kazakhstani titanium accounts for 11% in the world and over 20% in the aerospace industry.
The plant’s products are certified by such major producers of the world as Airbus, Boeing, TIMET, ATI, Safran, UKAD, Pratt & Whitney, General Electric, Dynamet, Howmet, POSCO, Baoti and MIDHANI.
Kazakhstani titanium is used in shipbuilding, energy, aerospace industry, oil and gas industry and medicine. The country exports its total titanium output to the US, Great Britain, France, South Korea, India and China.
The Ust-Kamenogorsk titanium-magnesium plant intends to carry out 25 investment projects to the tune of 207 billion tenge over the next few decades.
During the visit, Tokayev examined the production workshops of the plant and talked to the personnel. (Kazinform/Ukrainian metal)
