Kyrgyzstan: number of Kumtor employees increases

The number of employees at Kumtor gold mine has grown by 33%, or by 1,156 people over four years.

Since 2017, the enterprise has taken a course to reduce the cost of gold production, including gradually reducing the staff in order to reduce administrative costs. As a result, in 2019, 3,467 people worked at Kumtor: 2,637 full-time employees and 830 representatives of contractors. The number of employees decreased by 173 people, including contractors by 117 people.

The situation has changed, and 4,600 people work at Kumtor now.

While at the end of 2019 there were 3,467 employees at Kumtor, as of 2023 their number had grown to 4,623. This includes 3,417 employees of Kumtor Gold Company CJSC and 1,206 contractors. In 2019, there were 2,637 fulltime employees and 830 contractors.

Thus, the number of full-time employees increased by 780 (+29.5%) and contractors by 376 (+45.3%). (24.kg/Ukrainian metal)
