Ranked fifth, Uzbekistan retained its position among the world’s top five uranium producers in 2020, according to a report by the World Nuclear Association (WNA).
The country extracted 3,500 tons of uranium last year, the same as in 2019. Uzbekistan currently does not use uranium within the country, but exports it abroad.
Kazakhstan was a leader in terms of uranium production (19,480), with Australia being placed second (6,200). The top five also included Namibia (5,410) and Canada (3,880). Production volumes in all four countries decreased due to the restrictions associated with the pandemic.
Some 47,730 tons of uranium were extracted in the world last year, down by 13% YoY. (Ukrainian metal)
