In 2012-2020, Metinvest spent 15.35 billion UAH on the ecological modernization of its Mariupol Ilyich and Azovstal Iron and Steel Works.
More than 40 large-scale projects have been carried out over the years.
Thus, Azovstal decommissioned sintering shop, coke-oven batteries Nos. 5, 6 and 7 as well as blast furnaces Nos. 5 and 6, while Mariupol Ilyich – heating wells of the sheet-rolling shop-1700.
Neither enterprise uses the outdated open-hearth manufacture.
Mariupol Ilyich has reconstructed dust-exhaust system of its sintering factory, reducing dust emission by 90% and sulfur – by 46%. (Ukrainian metal)
