Chelyabinsk Iron and Steel Works has started another stage of its large-scale steel capacities modernization.
In particular, reconstruction of one of the three converters in the steel smelting shop has begun.
New gas-purifying equipment will be assembled at the converter to decrease air pollution.
The oxygen-converter manufacture provides the company with over 4 million tons of quality steel per year.
Design work has been completed, most of the equipment has been purchased and a general contractor for construction has been selected. (Ukrainian metal)
