Metinvest has completed the first stage of the hot-rolling mill-1700 capital reconstruction at Mariupol Ilyich iron and Steel Works.

“Under the project we have received a new reduction reversing stand and a better water descalling. Thanks to the reconstruction of the heating furnaces we will be able to maintain equal temperature over all the length of the strip thus providing for equal thickness”, the company CEO Taras Shevchenko said.

Moreover, the company will now be able to produce coils with the thickness of up to 1.2 mm.

The cost of the project was $100 million.

Hot-rolled coils output will grow to 2.5 million tons per year. (Ukrainian metal)
