Having purchased Krivorizhstal, ArcelotMittal has invested $4.4 billion in its Kriviy Rih asset, and in the nearest 5 years will invest $1.8 billion more.
According to the company deputy CEO on metallurgical manufacture Alexander Ivanov, the main focus will be on the change in sinter manufacture, which accounts for some 70% of air pollution.
“We have changed our initial decision and instead of the sinter factory reconstruction we will build a pelletizing factory, which will help us decreased pollution not by 38%, but by 54%. That is to say we have chosen a better environment project and have attracted a 350-million euro loan from the EBRD”, Ivanov said. (Ukrainian metal)
