ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih has finished the pre-commissioning of the upgraded automated dispatch control system for mining and conveyor equipment. The project price amounted to over UAH 16 million.
The company started using the system in 2003, and in 2009 it switched it to Tetra digital data transmission system. Nevertheless, since then, ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih has purchased plenty of mining machinery not equipped with control means. Moreover, after ten years of operation the automated dispatch control system needed an upgrade.
The project involved 37 large dump trucks (25 BelAZ trucks and 12 Caterpillars) and 8 units of secondary machinery. They were equipped with special sensors and other means to monitor location and movement of the machinery in two open pits in real-time. Additionally, it allowed to fully control loading and unloading of rock mass, speed, fuel level and consumption, weight of the carried load, tire wear and pressure, number of routes, and other necessary information.
The upgrade of automated dispatch control system for mining and conveyor equipment will enable ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih to reduce the number of downtimes, deviations of routs, speed limits violations, and overloads, etc. Additionally, it will contribute to reduction of operating costs related to heavy load mining equipment. Moreover, application of the same control software for all equipment at the company will reduce its costs on a new IT system. (AMKR/Ukrainian metal)
