Russia: steel output down in Q1 2019

In January-March, Russia decreased production of unalloyed steel and semi-finished products by 0.2% YoY. In March the output totaled 4.8 million tons, down by 7.4% YoY and by 0.1% MoM.

According to the Federal Service of State Statistics, stainless steel manufacture dropped by 14.3% YoY, but grew by 13.4% MoM, to 14.3 thousand tons. In 3 months output decreased by 6.2%.

The manufacture of other alloyed steel increased in Q1 by 0.1%. In March output went up by 6.2% YoY and by 9.7% MoM, to 1.3 million tons.

Russia produced 5.1 million tons of rolled metal in March, down by 5% YoY, but up by 3% MoM. In Q1 the output grew by 0.7%. (Ukrainian metal)
