The second rolling shop of the Belarusian steel mill BMZ has made 2 million tons of products. The milestone batch of products was shipped to the Netherlands.
The second rolling shop is designed to make a broad range of rolled products, section iron, reinforcing bars, and other kinds of merchandise. It was commissioned in 2015. In 2018 alone it made 624,500 tons of merchandise, with 61% of the figure worth nearly $239 million sold to customers. The share of export is roughly at 80% of the sales. Products made by the second rolling shop are shipped to 40 countries. In 2018 the division started shipping orders to Guatemala, Denmark, Tunisia, Liechtenstein, Ethiopia, and Cameroon. The top customers included Israel, Germany, Netherlands, Russia, and Lithuania.
The second rolling shop accounts for over 50% of the innovative products BMZ makes. Constantly expanding the choice of products, the division is busy increasing the output of products with a higher added value. The efforts have had a positive effect on BMZ’s economy. In 2016 despite unfavorable market conditions proceeds from replacing cast sections with wire-rod mill products increased by $8 million. The increase reached $33.1 million in 2017 and $49.9 million in 2018.
The public joint-stock company (OAO) BMZ is the managing company of the holding company BMC is a high-tech Belarusian metallurgical company. BMZ has four enterprises united by a single process flow – a steel smelting division, a rolling division, a pipe division, and divisions making hardware items and supplying work tools and implements.
