In January Russia produced 5.79 million tons of steel, down by 4.5% YoY (5.87 million tons in December 2018).

Ukraine, no longer a part of CIS, decreased output by 4.9%, to 1.85 million tons (1.885 million tons).

Kazakhstan produced 360 thousand tons, down by 5.5% YoY (380 thousand tons).

In January Belarus manufactured 220 thousand tons of steel, flat MoM, but up by 2.3% YoY.

60 thousand tons were produced in Uzbekistan, flat MoM, but up by 13.2% YoY.

Moldova produced 40 thousand tons, up by 25% YoY (50 thousand tons in December 2018).

All in all, in January CIS countries produced 8.32 million tons of steel, down by 4.3% YoY (8.465 million tons in December 2018). (Ukrainian metal)
