PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih has completed the construction of the servicing terminal at the Karyernaya railway station, intended to fill the diesel locomotives, railway cranes for tracks repairing and refueling trucks with diesel. The latter delivers fuel from the station to the open pits to fill dump trucks, drilling rigs, excavators and other large-sized machinery with fuel.
Storage capacity of refueling trucks is 35 thousand tons. Previously filling took approximately 3.5 hours, but now, due to upgrade, it takes approximately 1 hour. To accelerate the delivery of diesel fuel, a new 360-meters long pipeline with diameter increased 1.5-fold was laid there. The pipeline has six fuel filters, which allows improving the quality of fuel. The discharge trestle was additionally equipped with two new devices. With the installation of the filling riser and the replacement of the pipeline, it was possible to reduce the downtime in three times.
A new pumping station was also built with three fuel pumps instead of one: to drain diesel fuel from the railway cisterns, to deliver fuel for the railway machinery and refueling trucks. At the same time, all pumps are interchangeable, which ensures triple reserve of pumping equipment. Each fuel pump is equipped with a diesel fuel fine filter, which protects against ingress of small mechanical impurities. Two fuel dispensers are installed at the diesel fuel distribution station, which allows automating the fuel delivery. Counters were installed to account fuel consumption.
At the same time, work of staff has become safer and more comfortable. There is a new platform, made in the USA, with SafeRack folding bridge and a special additional fencing. Its protective design reduces the production risks for drivers while they are filling the equipment.
In total, Mining Department of PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih uses three servicing terminals to supply mining and railway machinery with fuel. Previously, one of them was upgraded in the area of the third open pit. Industrial tests of the station on the Karyernaya railway station are now being completed. There is a plan to upgrade the third one, which is located in the diesel depot. (AMKR/Ukrainian metal)
