Russia: iron ore transportation to grow domestically

In August Russia transported 10.2 million tons of iron ore, up by 7.4% YoY. This has been the highest level in the past 15 years.

Since the start of the year railroads have transported 77.3 million tons of ore, up by 5.4% YoY.

Local transportation in August grew by 11%. Exports dropped by 15% YoY, mostly because of the decrease in deliveries to China (by 60%) and Poland, which stopped imports altogether.

Analysts believe iron ore transportation to local destinations will be growing, while the metal output is increasing. Otherwise exports might increase. (Ukrainian metal)
